Everton vs West Ham Live

Everton vs West Ham Live: Fabian Delph remains doubtful due to a hamstring injury, while Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Cenk Tosun are both out.

West Ham’s Declan Rice has overcome the illness that caused him to miss England’s win in Bulgaria.

Aaron Cresswell and Robert Snodgrass are also available following knocks but Lukasz Fabianski, Michail Antonio and Winston Reid all remain out.

Pressure is a privilege, says Silva
MOTD COMMENTATOR’S NOTES
@mfisherfootball: It’s not quite crisis time at Goodison Park but the natives are restless. Again.

Four consecutive defeats have seen Everton drop into the relegation zone for the first time in two years. Ronald Koeman lost his job in October 2017; some believe it might end the same way for Marco Silva.

Defensive shortcomings have resurfaced and their goals have dried up.

On paper, it’s a terrific chance for West Ham to extend their recent unbeaten away record and build on their best start for four seasons. A win could lift the Hammers to third in the table come the final whistle.

VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT
Everton manager Marco Silva: “Their [West Ham’s] away form is really good, we know what we expect. It’s up to us to perform better than the last games to achieve a good result. It will be a game for us to express ourselves on the pitch.

“We are together in this situation. One month ago, before the first international break, we were in sixth position and in a good moment. I am the first one to take responsibility but it is good to see the players take it as well.”

West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini: “I think that we are where we deserve to be. I am very pleased with the style of football.

“We scored a beautiful goal against Crystal Palace, we are making chances and trying to score, we play the most amount of time in the opposite half, we have more shots on target.

“The fans deserve to have our style of football and we will not change that whether we are winning or losing.”

LAWRO’S PREDICTION
This is a huge game for Everton boss Marco Silva, whose team are in the bottom three. Defeat in their last home game against Sheffield United was particularly damaging for Silva, because it was a game the Everton fans expected to win – and the same applies here.

Prediction: 2-1

Lawro’s full predictions v Strictly Come Dancing stars Alex Scott and Neil Jones

Everton have scored with just one of their last 47 Premier League shots
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

West Ham have claimed two victories in the past three league meetings, as many as in their previous 22 attempts (D7, L13).
Everton have won 25 games and scored 83 goals against the Hammers – both Premier League club records against a particular opponent.
The Hammers have failed to score in four of the past six league encounters.
Everton

Everton could lose five consecutive league fixtures for the first time since October 2005, when they equalled the club top-flight record of six straight losses.
The Toffees are also on the cusp of matching their club Premier League record of three consecutive home defeats.
Only Watford and Newcastle have scored fewer goals than Everton’s six.
They have the worst second-half record in the division, only managing one goal and failing to outscore their opponents in any game after the interval.
Everton have conceded a league-high 22 set-piece goals since the start of last season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored Everton’s last four goals in all competitions – all in the first half.
West Ham United

West Ham are unbeaten in six away league games (W3, D3). Their Premier League club record is seven matches, set in January 2009.
They have outscored their opponents by 11 goals to five in those six away fixtures.
The Hammers have 12 points after eight matches. They did not pass 12 points until their 14th fixture of last season and their 16th match of 2017-18.
All 12 points accrued by eighth-placed West Ham have come against sides below them in the table.
The Hammers have dropped seven points from winning positions this season, second only to Aston Villa’s eight.

Wolves vs Reading Live

Wolves vs Reading Live Stream: The hosts were frustrated for much of the first half, until full-back Matt Doherty capitalised on hesitant defending to nod Wolves in front.

Cool second-half finishes from Benik Afobe and Doherty sealed three points.

The win was soured slightly by Wanderers’ top scorer Diogo Jota limping off before the break.

But Villa’s home defeat by QPR on Tuesday means Wolves now have a 10-point buffer to their third-placed rivals with nine matches remaining.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had won just one of their past five league games heading into the re-arranged fixture against the Royals, postponed because of snow 10 days ago.

Relive Tuesday’s EFL action
Wolves’ 4-1 loss at Villa Park at the weekend saw the Portuguese make four changes to his side, including a first start for Afobe since returning on loan from Bournemouth in January.

And the DR Congo striker rewarded his manager’s faith, slotting in Helder Costa’s cross, in between Doherty’s double.

The right-back’s two strikes were clinical – the first a neat header from Barry Douglas’ knock back, before stroking the ball in from the edge of the area.

Wolves still have home games to come against four sides in the bottom half – Burton, Hull, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday – as they seek a return to the Premier League for the first time since being relegated in 2012.

Reading, who failed to register a shot on target and have only won one of their past 17 matches, remain in relegation trouble in 19th. Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo:

“Of course we are happy, but on Saturday we were not happy so we are looking for consistency.

“Today I think it was a deserved win and a well-played game. It was a good game, a good performance and a good result.

“I think our fans enjoyed the game, I think we were in control. We managed every situation well, we defended well and we didn’t give anything to Reading who are a good team.

“We know Diogo [Jota] and when he cannot go on the pitch we know he is in pain. Let’s see how he is.”

Reading boss Jaap Stam:

“Of course I am fed up with losing. I can’t do anything about that [my position] and if they want to make changes you need to go to the owners. I spoke to them [the owners] this morning.

“At the end of the day they are very supportive with what they are doing. In the situation we are in I hate it as well. I want to go forward, I want to win my games.

“Hopefully we can see an end to this run. We need to do things differently and the intensity has to be a lot more.

“If you do things with a certain mindset you can make it more difficult for the opposition.”

Hellas Verona vs AC Milan

Hellas Verona vs AC Milan Live Stream: Joe Jordan went from beans on toast to bolognese when he moved to Italy and is convinced Liam Henderson already has a taste for the big time in Serie A.

The Scotland legend followed in Denis Law’s footsteps when he chased Scudetto success at AC Milan in the early eighties.

Graeme Souness would go in a similar direction but it’s been a rare route to see top Scots strutting their stuff alongside the Italians.

Henderson bucked the trend when he headed to Bari last year and Jordan has been keeping close tabs on the playmaker having seen him win promotion to the top flight and secure a move to Serie A’s Hellas Verona.

Hellas Verona vs AC Milan Live Stream Free Signup

The former Celtic and Hibs midfielder has made a solid start in the historic city, with Verona picking up four points from their first two league games.

But the big test comes this weekend – against Jordan’s old side Milan. The San Siro hero is keeping a close eye on Henderson and has already been to visit the youngster in his new home on the banks of Lake Garda.

And Jordan has seen enough to be convinced the kid has made the right call by embracing the football – and the food.

He said: “Back then, going to Italy was the best move for me. If I hadn’t taken the chance to play there I would have looked back with certain regrets.

“Earlier in my career I had the chance to go to Bayern Munich when I was at Leeds but it was denied to me because they still held my registration.

“But when I did go to Italy I was the only foreign player in the dressing room. There was pressure, I knew that. It was good but it wasn’t easy. I would not have missed it for the world.

“They looked after me and I just went with the flow. When it came to the pre-match meal of pasta and risotto I didn’t ask for beans.
“I went along with the pasta and I went along with pre-match preparations for games, which were all new to me as well. But I was well looked after so the only problems I had to deal with would be on the field of play.

“Once they see the individual and his technique and his commitment to learning the language it won’t be a problem.

“In Italy you have to be a good professional first and foremost but from speaking to the lad, it’s clear he is a good, driven pro.

“If he’d gone to Bari and he wasn’t a good pro he would not have got a second club in Italy.”

Jordan can see Henderson has similarly thrown himself in to Italian life.

He said: “I’ve seen him play. I went a couple of times last year and the move has worked out well. Verona is a beautiful city – the most beautiful city I have ever seen – and I think he is living on the lake in Peschiera. “You don’t need to worry about Liam, he will be enjoying himself. He’s got it all out there and it’s a good club and he’s started well.

“But it won’t be easy for them this season. It will be a big learning curve for Liam.

“He has a coach that believes in him and the experience of getting promotion under
pressure last season will stand him in good stead.

“Now he’s a Serie A player it is fantastic. It doesn’t happen as often as it did in my day but if you go and face the challenge head on you’ll grow up quickly.

“It says a lot about his technique and character that he’s thrived in Italy.”

Henderson is a long way from home but Jordan reckons if he maintains his progress it won’t be long before Scotland boss Steve Clarke hops on a plane or picks up a phone. He said: “Without a doubt, Henderson is a future Scotland international. Definitely with the challenge he has taken on by going to Italy.

“There are talented players out there but the difficulty for them – especially in England – is getting game time.

“If you don’t play, as is happening to the top English players at big clubs, they have to go and find somewhere and prove to the coach of the national team they can do it.

“And unless you are playing regularly and under pressure and handling it I can’t see how you can improve as a player. Liam has definitely taken the right route. It’s not an easy route but it’s the right one. “There’s not many players coming through at the top clubs but players can earn more than enough without playing football to be financially secure at the end of their career. But that ain’t what it’s all about.

“For the lad Henderson to go to Italy, it suggests he will have a career to look back on. He will have a sense of achievement but there’s a lot of players at big English clubs who won’t be stretched and will look back on their careers in disappointment.”

Watford go in search of their first Premier League win of the season on Sunday, and the club will be hoping for an improvement in performance following a change in management.

The Hornets have conceded eight goals in their first four games, and Sanchez Flores has spoken about the importance of tightening up their defence in an interview with Simon Collings at the Evening Standard.

He said: “Even if you want to play like Manchester City, if you don’t defend that well, it is very difficult.”

The new boss may have to cope without some key players. Craig Cathcart is out with injury, while captain Troy Deeney is still sidelined following knee surgery, per BBC Sport.

Sanchez Flores faces a tough start to life back in the Vicarage Road hot seat. The Hornets take on Arsenal on Sunday and then travel to champions Manchester City.

The 54-year-old is well aware of the threat posed by the Gunners: Yet Arsenal also have injury problems going into the match. The north Londoners have confirmed striker Alexandre Lacazette has been ruled out of action until October due to an ankle issue.

Squawka Football highlighted his importance to the team: The onus will once again fall on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to provide the goals against Watford. The Gabon international is in excellent form and has 12 in his last 13 games for Arsenal.

Much will also be expected from club-record signing Nicolas Pepe. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a promising start to his Arsenal career and will be hoping to score his first goal at Vicarage Road.

Arsenal have looked defensively vulnerable this season but should still have enough quality in attack to see off a Watford side in awful form. Sanchez Flores’ reappointment may bring about an improvement, but a first win on Sunday would be a surprise.

Portland State vs Boise State

Portland State vs Boise State Live Stream: The Portland State Vikings of the Big Sky Conference in the FCS face a tough test when they visit the Boise State Broncos on Saturday night.

This will be Boise State’s final tuneup before starting Mountain West Conference play against Air Force next week. Boise State looked great in their come-from-behind win against Florida State in College Football Week 1 but they struggled to overcome Marshall 14-7 last Friday.

Portland State, on the other hand, played hard in their 20-13 loss at Arkansas in their season opener and then crushed Division II team Simon Fraser 70-7 last Saturday.

Davis Alexander completed 18 of 25 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns for a Portland State team that scored 70 unanswered points after Simon Fraser took a 7-0 lead

Mataio Talalemotu caught six passes for 132 yards and a touchdown, Davis Koetter made four receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns and Dante Chachere ran for 65 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.

Portland State finished with 646 total yards while limiting Simon Fraser to just 113. Simon Fraser had 178 passing yards but they were held -65 rushing yards.

Boise State trailed Marshall 7-0 but then held them to zero yards of offense in the second half and did enough to get a hard-fought 14-7 win on Friday night. The offense was not as effective as expected and Boise State leaned on their defense to get an important victory.

Freshman quarterback Hank Bachmeier completed 22 of 34 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown with one interception and he added 26 yards and one touchdown on seven carries and George Holani ran for 103 yards on 22 carries. Khalil Shakir also shined, catching five passes for 95 yards.

Both teams had two turnovers but Boise State finished with 437 total yards while limiting Marshall to 172, they had 22 first downs against Marshall’s nine and they controlled the clock with 39:12 of possession while Marshall had the ball for just 20:48.

Prediction
Boise State saw how Portland State almost beat Arkansas in Week 1 and they will not take them lightly. Boise State is clearly the better team and Hank Bachmeier will have a chance to make the offense click before starting an important stretch of the season.

Portland State can move the ball, so the Boise State defense has to come out and start faster. This is a huge step up in competition for Portland State and their offense will be tested.

Oklahoma vs UCLA Preview
Rachel Garcia powered UCLA into the Women’s College World Series finals.

The redshirt junior pitched a 10-inning shutout against the Washington Huskies in the semifinals. She ended the game with a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th on a 1-2 count.

“I think just during that whole at-bat, I could just hear everyone behind me telling me I got this,” Garcia said, according to the Daily Bruin. “I’m not going to lie, I think I shed a tear a little bit. Just seeing everyone run out to the home plate just really put a smile on my face. I was just super excited for all of us.”

Garcia struck out 16 Huskies, allowing eight hits and four walks. UCLA center fielder Bubba Nickels went 2-for-5, the only Bruin with more than one hit and the only one other than Garcia to collect an extra-base knock.

“It’s amazing, we feel so good right now,” the junior said, per the Daily Bruin. “But we’re not done yet. We have a lot that we want to accomplish still. Today was tough, but it was a good way for us to be prepared for the next couple of days.”

The Bruins already hold the NCAA record for titles, with 11. The school has won 12, but vacated its 1995 championship due to recruiting infractions under former head coach Sharron Backus.

Last year, they reached the semifinals before falling to the Florida State Seminoles.

“I was very proud of our effort last year, you can clearly see [Garcia] was convicted; she wasn’t going to let that happen again,” head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez said, per the Daily Bruin. “That’s what it comes down to. Your ability to stay convicted. This team never gave up. This team literally continued to throw many punches. Washington is a legit team. Every time we play them it’s a dogfight and we knew that coming in.”

Oklahoma sustained a walk-off 1-0 defeat to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the semifinals, but responded by trouncing their foes 7-3 to punch their ticket.

The Sooners clubbed three home runs in the victory, bring their NCAA single-season record to 111.

Sophomore outfielder Jocelyn Alo hit a two-run dinger in the bottom of the fifth, junior center fielder Nicole Mendes added one of her own in the sixth, and freshman shortstop Grace Lyons added an insurance run with a solo shot later in the frame.

“I came into that at-bat knowing I was not going to be denied again,” Alo said, according to The Oklahoma Daily. “I just kind of dug down deep and that happened.”

Florida State vs Virginia

Florida State vs Virginia Live Stream: It’ll be an ACC battle as the Florida State Seminoles and No. 25 Virginia Cavaliers face off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium. After dropping their opener against Boise State, the Seminoles survived a 45-44 thriller against Louisiana-Monroe in Week 2. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are off to a 2-0 start after knocking off Pittsburgh in their season opener and then taking care of business against William & Mary in Week 2. The Cavaliers are favored by 7.5 points in the latest Florida State vs. Virginia odds, while the over-under is set at 58, up a point from the opening line. Before you make any FSU vs. Virginia picks or college football predictions, you’ll want to see what the SportsLine Projection Model is saying.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times, and those who have followed it have seen massive returns. Over the past four years, this proprietary computer model has generated a jaw-dropping $4,530 profit for $100 bettors on its top-rated spread picks. The model enters Week 3 of the 2019 college football season on a blistering 18-6 run on its top-rated picks. It also called Colorado’s (+158) upset of Nebraska and was all over Army (+23) against No. 10 Michigan in a game the Black Knights pushed to overtime and covered with plenty of room to spare. Anybody who has been following it is way up.

Now, it has simulated Virginia vs. Florida State 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning under, and it’s also generated a point-spread pick that is hitting in 60 percent of simulations. You can only see the pick at SportsLine.

The model has taken into account that the Cavaliers rolled to a comfortable win last week where they piled up 350 more yards than William & Mary. Quarterback Bryce Perkins and running back Mike Hollins were among the main playmakers for Virginia in that matchup. Perkins threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 68 yards and a score on the ground. Hollins ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns. UVA enters this matchup with 11 sacks on the season, ranking the Cavaliers third-best in the nation in that category.

FSU’s season, meanwhile, has been anything but smooth as the Seminoles are giving up a whopping 520 yards of total offense per game. They were bailed out by a missed extra point by Louisiana-Monroe last week, but perhaps that break is what they needed to enter ACC play with some confidence. Despite its shaky start, FSU will still have one of the best players on the field in running back Cam Akers. He’s recorded 309 yards on 51 carries (6.1 ypc) this season and has found the end zone four times — three rushing and one receiving.
